Posted “Three Amigos” on another site before coming here. It IS perfect for Miami and these three players. It’s Spanglish, instantly recognizable, good humored (like the fellas), and it would make the perrrfect banner hanging over AA Arena: the three of them in the black jerseys and huge sombreros on .

I love the cerebral sobriquet “Cerberus of SoBe”, which, instead of preventing those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping Hades, prevents teams who have crossed the Intracoastal from ever escaping SoBe with a win (I understand Riles is fond of alliteration.) Too bad it will never catch on. I think Trio5 has a shot, though.
I’ve been kicking around “Class o’ 3″ and “Bling (or Ring) dynasty”, but I like Rob’s suggestion of “Sobe 3″ or better yet “SoB3″ the best so far.

I’ve been out of the hoop for quite a while. I missed a lot but thanks for the great articles. Anyway, i have to change my name once the voting is over.
My qualifications for voting are:
-should be short (about 3-4 syllables)
-should be easy to remember worldwide (all nations and languages can relate to it)
-should be something better than the existing Big3 of Boston
-should be unique

i would have to agree with you at one point. they don’t actually suck. it’s just that i don’t find any name that rings a bell and that could easily be identifiable to wade, james, and bosh.
also, i think it would be better to give them a name when the team have already accomplished something that is really magnificent and caught our eye and the sportscasters. i know, they are all accomplished as of now, but that is from their different teams, nothing yet from miami as a team.
but i firmly believe that these 3guys would do great together.

If no one nickname can garner more than 10% of the vote, we should probably hold off on deciding on just one nickname. Let it simmer and develop naturally, then re-vote in a few weeks, or even a few months. No need to rush, these guys have got YEARS of winning ahead!

Why not “The Fellowship?” Such a great reference, and it absolutely is a case of teaming up for a ring, not to mention the way Fellowship incorporates the “Superfriends” angle as well.

Not really, most other teams that have three players worth a nickname have more than one ring to share amongst them, thus rendering the moniker unusable for them. Perfect though for Lebron, Bosh, and Wade, who only have the one true ring of Wade…

I like the Superfriends but Wade would have to become a new hero.
D-Wade = Batman – he finnaced the superfrineds, was the real brains behind them and had the ability to beat every single one of them.
Lebron = Aquaman Pretty strong but could only summon sea creatures and thats no good on dry land – Lebron could get players to work for him in Cleveland either Lol!!!!
Bosh = Apache Chief – He had the power to grow real tall, Bosh has the ability to come up big in some games, but basiclly follows the lead of the major Superfriends.
Superman is up the road in Orlando – and like today’s Supes – he has a tendency to get beaten.
