Mike Miller officially signs with the Miami Heat

After what has seemed like an eternity since interest between the two parties was reported, Mike Miller has officially signed with the Miami Heat today. He confirmed it on his Twitter account:

It’s official! Thanks to the Miami Heat Organization, Mr. Arison, Pat Riley, the fans and the players that made this happen!

More details, including the official Heat statement, to come very soon. Now that the Heat has now used up their cap space (along with the Udonis Haslem signing earlier this week) we should expect to see several veteran minimum contracts signed in the near future to round out the rest of the roster.

Mike Miller = Amazing 6th man we can bring off the bench for either Wade or Lebron.
Udonis Haslem = Best 7th man in the NBA.

I thought we were supposed to have no depth?! Go Heat.

[Reply]

Gary Reply:

Jim is absolutely right. The experts at ESPN bitched and moaned about how the Heat will have to fill their roster out with minimum salary players and old veterans, and how it wouldn’t work out. Pat Riley showed them.

I really hope that Shaq comes and gets another 2 rings

Shaq is a broke-ass has-been. So yes, I share with your sentiment in hoping the heat obtain the big man.

screw shaq, he sucks and burned his bridges on his way out. he insulted the franchise after we showed nothing but respect to him. no more piggie backing for championships.

this team is going to STEAMROLL thru the league year in and year out and its going to be amazing to see what happens. GO HEAT. I LOVE THIS CITY.

[Reply]

monmon Reply:

The only one piggybacking is Lebron, dude!

Why are you so dumb mike the Heat are going to rule the league for years to come and you’re just mad because Lebron chose us. I’m tired of hearing all of this whining none owns Lebron James or any player for that matter so enough with this garbage about collusion, cheating and abandonment. You couldn’t give me any sport that doesn’t have indications of those very offenses and rarely are they every brought into public view.

JP Reply:

You are lit my man! Lakers barely beat a geriatric Celtics team. Kobe didn’t impress me one bit in the Finals. He got hot in Game 5 but still ended up shooting less that 5o%. Won’t even get into his Game 7 performance.

There currently isn’t a team out there that can stop this Heat team. Maybe next season the alleged Knicks trio will be able to but CP3s injury history and Amare and Melos lack of D will be their downfall if they even do come together.

Kobe better take HGH or something because he is going to get chumpified if the Lakers get to the Finals.

Lebron was always my favorite player and Wade 2nd favorite to watch. Now that they’re on the same team with Bosh, GAME OVER!

[Reply]

6 JP { 07.15.10 at 3:17 pm }

The 2 best players are on the Heat. If these 2 teams meet in the Finals, the rest of the world is going to find out what I’ve known for a long time: Kobe can’t compare to Wade or Lebron and only wins because he has had so much help over the years. See: 6 for 24 in Game 7.

[Reply]

nate robinson Reply:

thats right

[Reply]

monmon Reply:

What you Heat fans don’t acknowledge is that Kobe led a “championship” team this year! That’s why you’re all jealous of his accomplishments and think that this 3 could beat him. Hello! He’s got 5 rings now. Next year he ties Jordan’s 6! The Boston big 4 couldn’t beat him. And Lebron couldn’t beat Boston. So Lebron now joins other losers such as Bosh and Wade, who both couldn’t come close to championships the past 3 years. So what do you get — another losing Miami team! Can’t wait to see you all cry in and during the playoffs next year.

[Reply]

JP Reply:

Oh yeah, he really led the shit out of them in Game 7 when Ron Artest and Pau Gasol had bail him out. Pau Gasol should be the Finals MVP and it’s a travesty he didn’t get it.

[Reply]

Mike Reply:

LBJ is a fucking queen when it comes to the playoffs. I think you’d be better off asking Magic Johnson to join the team to fill-in for that bitch ass choker. Enjoy you’re first round loss. FUCK YOU MIAMI!

Question for Surya or any other HHH blogger.

With Zo’s number retired, what number will Miller wear now?

Good point. I asked him on Twitter but I doubt he’ll respond. We might find out if they hold a press conference to introduce him.

Mike Miller is going to shoot approximately 248% from three this season. God this team is going to be fun to watch.

intially I had LA as the favorites and I still didn’t have the Heat at the top. Though they have proved nothing thus far as a team..Never have such young superstars in their prime joined forces like this even though you can talk about magic and kareem or bird mchale, kobe shaq, etc…we are talking about the 2 best players in the nba assuming Kobe’s age starts taking its toll or 2 of the top 3..They are slashers, incredible scorers, incredible defenders, and they already have some chemistry together. I honestly think that if the heat rounds out the roster with shooters and one more big man, its just going to be way too much for the Lakers to handle. Lebron James is a monster but what people forget is we are about to see Wade again with a good team and he is truuuly unstoppable when he isn’t carrying and he plays off the ball which is when he is at his best..Just a scary thought, I believe this team will win the next 3 to 5 years or more. who knows

[Reply]

JP Reply:

LeBoo and Wade are the 2 best in the NBA. I’d probably take Dwight 3rd and a healthy CP3 is in the argument for Top 3 status as well. Kobe is going to be exposed. If he was on a team such as Lebrons or Wade the past couple years his numbers would be even worse because the opposing D could focus in on him more. I really think people are underestimating just how great 6 and 3 are. Nevermind that Bosh is on the roster as well!

I live in NH and I like the Celtics but I know I’m buying League Pass to watch every single Heat game. I’ll be watching other teams as well but the Heat is the biggest draw for me.

Oh yeah, I left Durant out of the mix for top players. He’s probably number 3 or 4. Kobe is top 10 but thats about it.

This will be the funnest team to watch since Showtime. I wish I could press a button to fast forward to the NBA season.

monmon Reply:

Maybe you didn’t see the Olympics. During those games and the championship game Kobe showed them what it takes to win. They didn’t win without him during the last two Olympics. And they were younger, and great teams with a great coach during those failures. So it boils down to the mental game. That’s what made Jordan great, not so much his skills which were great but were not better nor worse than Larry’s or Tim’s or Magic’s or Kobe’s. Lebron showed he is a baby who loves the limelight. Heck, he even humiliated one whole city just to display his ego to the world!

[Reply]

JP Reply:

Nevermind the fact that Larry Brown gave all the young guys very little PT in 2004. Not much players can do if they’re on the bench most of the time. Obviously you left that part out.

Also, Jordan was more athletic than Bird, Magic and even Kobe.

Mike Reply:

Hey JP, who the fuck is LeBoo? True fare weather fan. Can’t even spell his name correctly. Leeeet meeee heeeeelp youuuuuuu. Ready? One, two, three, L-E-B-R-O-N.

FUCK YOU MIAMI!!! Better start stocking up on your Zoloft.

[Reply]

JP Reply:

W-E-A-K. You’re going to go after a purposely spelled name that I spelled correctly in the same post. Pull your head out man.

Also, I claim allegiance to no team. I enjoy the NBA objectively for the simple fact I love watching basketball being played at the highest level by tremendous athletes. I like certain players and teams more than others.

What else you got cuz you came pretty weak?

Mike Reply:

Illiteracy JP. Look it up! Might help you speak english bitch! FUCK YOU MIAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11 dave { 07.15.10 at 7:55 pm }

lebron needs to be starting PG, wade at the 2, miller the 3 and bosh at 4, maybe the big z at the 5, miller has to start, 4th highest paid player should start, he got 10, 4, and 4 with a bad team, miller is legit, lebron had 8 assits a game last year on bad team, could easily average 18, 10, and 10 at the point guard

JP Reply:

With the Holy Trinity being so versatile, theres a number of different lineups that could work. Can’t wait to see how it all shakes out.

I’m going with 23 points, 11 assists, 9 rebounds for LeBron’s averages next year. I want to see that triple double average, but I think he’ll fall just short.

LOL HEAT LOL THEY MNAY BE GOOD THIS YEAR BUT GREAT YOU CANNOT EVEN SPEAK THAT UNTIL THEY HAVE WON A TITLE HAVING BEST RECORD MEANS NOTHING ASK THE KING WHO STILL HAS NO RING LOL WOW WHAT WILL THEY SAY IF HE DOES NOT WIN ONE NOW CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE IT CAUSE IT IS A BIG CHANCE THAT WILL HAPPEN STILL ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THE BULLS HAVE GOTTEN BETTER AS STILL ARE THE LAKERS THE BEAT IN THERE DIVISION WELL HEAT FANS STAY TUNED DONT GO PLANNING NO PARADES JUST YET GOT IT . DA BULLS GONNA ROLL THEM GOOD JUST WATCH THAT WILL BE GREAT GAME EVERY TIME THEY PLAY ONE ANOTHER . pEACE

Bulls did the second best in free agency but we are talking about Lebron James & Dwayne Wade. I understand and agree that the Heat have proved nothing yet but I’m reading comments and articles saying they won’t be that good and it just boggles me to be honest. LEBRON JAMES & DWAYNE WADE. lol. forget Bosh & the rest of the roster for a second. arguably the 2 best in the nba who have already proved that they can play together. I just don’t see the Bulls winning a 7 game series in the playoff. Only 2 teams capable of possibly defeating this Heat team are the Celtics & Lakers. And those 2 teams are running out of gas, especially the Celtics. This Miami Heat team will win at least 3 titles in the next 6 years no matter what.

Dream on, Heat fans. Three of the biggest ball-hogs in the NBA are now in one team. This means total individual efforts and not team play. Buy your tickets now and watch the Heat circus crumble before your very eyes. Lakers and Kobe are still the best and they will always be. Dan Gilbert’s hex on Lebron will prove true in the next few years!

13 Matthew Bunch { 07.16.10 at 3:28 am }

Monmon, you know LeBron wants to be Magic and distribute, right? And you know Dwyane Wade was the best point guard on the Heat last year? They know how to distribute. Just because the guys know how to score in bunches doesn’t mean they have to.

[Reply]

monmon Reply:

And then what, Matthew, become ordinary players? The reason they are stars is because they get the ball most of the time and get to display their skills. How can they be great if they have to share the limelight and affect their stats? That’s why so many have failed during the years. Especially when in their prime. If you look back, only those trios who were mostly washed up were successful, though not all of them were. You’ll get to see these facts displayed when the Heat plays. Even if we grant that they work as a team, their numbers won’t be the same. And believe me, their agents will holler at them when their numbers dwindle. So don’t give your team such high grades until you see them play for a while.

[Reply]

Pat Reply:

monmon, did you watch the olympics? Or are you one of the countless people making up reasons why the heat won’t do well. Apparently you didn’t see the olympics. I’ll summarize them for you: Lebron, Wade, and Bosh played on the same team. Yes, that’s right, all three ball hogs played on the same team. They did pretty well.

Their agents will ‘holler’ at them when their numbers dwindle? I’m sorry but you are a moron monmon. Or whatever your stupid mame is. They all just received 100+ million dollar contracts. I think their agents will be ok with them winning a few titles. Your upset and probably jealous. It’s fine, all of the people posting nonsense about the heat are. But say something that makes sense or else you look like a moron like the rest of the losers posting crap about how the heat are going to suck.
