LeBron James has his Miami Heat cake and eats it too
Seems like I left Las Vegas a week too soon as LeBron James is enjoying his time there with his new Heat teammate Dwyane Wade, as well as Chris Paul, and together have been busy hanging with Team USA and enjoying themselves out on the town.
From Heather Turk at the Examiner:
Basketball’s most wanted man, LeBron James, spent the night at Lavo inside The Palazzo celebrating his recent contract signing with the Miami Heat. James was joined by Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets, San Diego Charger Shaun Phillips, Atlanta Hawk Josh Smith, Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtic Rajon Rondo and Larry Hughes of the Charlotte Bobcats. Fans of all ages waited outside the celebrity dining hotspot for the arrival of King James, who enjoyed dinner at the Italian eatery after walking the red carpet. Lavo favorites including the Calamari, Chicken Parmagiano and famed Kobe Meatball were served along with Crown and Ginger cocktails and Lemon Drop shots.
After dinner, James and his friends took over some VIP tables on the dance floor in Lavo’s nightclub where they danced and partied the night away, fueled by Perrier Jouët Rose Champagne, Patron Tequila and vodka. While at the club, James was presented with a cake from Gimme Some Sugar–a replica of his new Miami Heat No. 6 jersey. Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wade later joined the party after hitting Tao earlier in the night. Denver Nugget Chauncey Billups was also spotted enjoying the night with his fellow NBA stars.
That wasn’t the only Miami Heat – themed party LeBron was at in Las Vegas. Heather Turk has the scoop again:
King James arrived to cheers at Tao Beach and was joined in the grand cabana by a group of friends including new Miami Heat teammate Dwayne Wadeand Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. At one point the fans in the pool chanted his name and James pulled out his camera to capture the moment. Nearby, former NBA player Alan Henderson and Glen Davis from the Boston Celtics also took in the sun and the scene.
Later that night, James and nearly 30 of his friends (including Chris Paul) feasted at Tao on signature items including the Satay Bass, Lobster Wontons and Kobe Ribeye. Proving that he isn’t the most egotistical athlete around, James took time out from his dinner to greet fans, including a 5-year-old girl and her mother who came to Tao just for the chance of possibly meeting the NBA star. After dinner, James and his crew headed up to Tao’s club and commanded several tables on the dance floor where the cocktail waitress were dressed in Miami Heat jerseys to honor James’ new team. As they took in the sounds of DJ Vice, James was once again surprised by a cake from Gimme Some Sugar—this time in the shape of a king’s crown.

@Surya
as you can see in the past posts, there’s a laker/orlando/bulls fan who constantly posts here by insulting heat fans and the team. he goes by the name of of monmon, marcus, etc. he was tagged as moron, which i think shawn is referring to.
on the “kobe beef and not kobe bryant” comment, i think shawn just wants to say to moron that the dish is not named after his favorite player who is kobe bryant. shawn is just saying that the dish Kobe Meatball consists of kobe beef, a famous beef in Japan.

I also dislike the guy who comes on here and muddles up any basketball conversation. But here’s the thing: you’re doing exactly what he wants. I’m definitely guilty of it too. I should’ve never started with the guy in the first place. By speaking to him before he even comes on the board, you’re making him absolutely giddy. He doesn’t want to talk about basketball, and clearly doesn’t believe the things that he types. All he wants to do is get some notoriety on another team’s blog comments section (which is a pathetic waste of time), and by engaging him, we give it to him. Typing messages back and forth is just as big of a waste time. So listen, the best thing to do is simply not respond. Whatever you do, just don’t acknowledge him. Don’t bring him up, or make references to the guy. Let him type all the erroneous info he wants. If you don’t engage him, he’ll be talking to himself. And trust me, he’ll stop soon enough.

Haha, sounds good man. Like I said, we all do it. But nothing good is going to come from talking back and forth with the guy, because he just comes here to rile people up — no genuine basketball discussion. Before long, he’ll be out of here.

That’s like picking between Christmas dinner and Thanksgiving dinner! Can’t go wrong.
I’ve always been a fan of LeBron’s versatility though. D-Wade is the total package too, but I’m really excited to see Bron hopefully but up double digit assist numbers and let Wade take the lead scoring the ball.
I’ve heard lots of people say that they both need the ball in their hands and don’t complement each other, but I think they’re both so versatile that one will just need to redefine their game to be more of a facilitator, and then they’ll fit well in the same lineup.

you’re right James, i think LeBron will be giving a lot of assists. he was just forced to shoot the ball by himself in cleveland because there’s no other reliable man.
yes, they are both very versatile. i’m looking forward to see them play because i’ve seen the nba all start 2010. it was really a showtime man! it was great seeing these 2 play together, together with bosh.

@ james i think wade plays better off the ball and lebron is a proven passer and he loves to pass
wade is a great passer also
i can see it now
lebron to wade, wade fakes passes to bosh
and bosh slams it home
loll
anything is possible between these 3

No doubt. And the thing is, you know they all discussed sharing the ball and how they’d fit alongside each other before signing. It’s not like they went into this without thinking it through. And something’s that not being discussed is that not GM or coach put these 3 together — they chose this arrangement. They’re not being FORCED to give up touches or share the ball because of some move that a GM made. They made the move, and so they’ll know their roles. I think that bodes well for the prospects of them complementing each other rather than stepping on each others’ toes.
And with that, I’m out for the night. Go Heat!

that’s why the criticism that they won’t gel immediately like the big3 of boston has no basis.
i’m also out. goodnight! GO HEAT!!!

@Big3 remember how everyone was saying the first year of the big3 of boston questioning there D , they had one of the best Defense that year
if wade lbj and bosh think it wouldn’t have worked they wouldn’t have done it

yes, and that’s how boston won the title, good D coupled with high % FGs. we all have that in miami now. those are the things that other teams are afraid of, because it was a proven formula that when 3 huge basketball stars come together, it becomes a very strong contender. paul pierce was not even a star yet in 2008, he’s been a celtic for a long time but haven’t won a single championship. in the case of miami, dwade already got one ring, dwade have already proven that he could win a title – which makes miami an even stronger contender this year compared with the big3 of 2008 . add to the fact that the big3 of miami are in their prime and are not afraid to bang their bodies with younger opponents.

@big3
all true
and bosh is under rated as a defender
plus the heat always have teams that are more Defenses oriented
they are a defense first team
they are going to get there points
its funny to me how everyone is already counting them out
well next june
we can all say TOLD YOU SO
@james
also since they dont have to play as much which will help there bodies into the long runs in the playoffs
how good is kobe’s knee or buyums going to hold up? i know they got surgery but that is a lot of miles at the end of the season

That’s right, Lebron had better feast now, as soon as the regular season comes other teams will be doing the feasting at his expense. He’s not the most wanted man in basketball for nothing. The fans will have his head and his big ego, and he’ll be made accountable for humiliating Cleveland. He better just stay in Miami or he’ll be Kobe beef elsewhere.
[Reply]
hey moron or whatever u r called….get a life
[Reply]
Let Lebron party and chill out as much as he wants (it’s Miami after all!), just hope when he’s on the court his attention is 100% on basketball and winning.

What happen to Jarvis Vernado?? Is Heat going to sign him or not?
