Kenny Hasbrouck to sign with the Miami Heat (UPDATE: Now official)

With today’s news of Shavlik Randolph signing a partially guaranteed contract with the Miami Heat just coming in, it appears that another member of the Heat’s Summer League team will also get an invitation to training camp for a coveted roster spot.

WXAA, a Fox affiliate from Albany New York, has the scoop:

Kenny Hasbrouck has always been focused on the NBA.

The Siena grad didn’t even want to talk about playing overseas until he first gave the NBA everything he had.

That effort is now paying off.

Tomrorow, Hasbrouck will sign a contract with the Miami Heat, a deal that will put him in training camp with all-stars Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh.

The deal, which could pay Kenny upwards of $200,000, is not guaranteed until December 1st.

“I’m grateful for it to finally happen, to finally put my name on the paper where I know I’m going to be secure for at least a couple months.  So, it’s good.” Hasbrouck told FOX23 during his visit back to Siena College today.

Hasbrouck was Miami’s leading scorer in the Vegas Summer League averaging 13.6 PPG to go with 2.4 RPG and 2.4 APG in 5 games.

The Miami Heat have made it official with the following press release: (like Shavlik Randolph, this is a partially-guaranteed contract for a Summer League player.)

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed guard Kenny Hasbrouck. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hasbrouck played in five games (five starts) for the HEAT’s 2010 summer league squad, averaging 13.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 28.6 minutes, while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from three-point range.

Hasbrouck was previously signed by the HEAT to a 10-day contract on March 16, 2010 and then was signed to a second 10-day contract on March 26, 2010. He re-signed for the remainder of the season on April 5, 2010, but did not appear in a game for the team last season. Before signing with Miami, he appeared in 10 games (nine starts) with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA Development League averaging 16.9 points, 2.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.60 steals in 32.3 minutes of action, leading the team to a 7-3 record, while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from three-point range and 80.6 percent from the free throw line.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind having one more experienced PG and a true SG to back up Wade. But then again, if it’s good enough for Riley, it’s good enough for me. Remember, we can have as many as 20 on the squad for camp, so there still might be a move here or there before the final 15 are decided on.

noo.. point guards are good chalmers is a rookie a arroyo is a vet and they both good solid with d-wade and james we dont even need a good point what he need other than a back up for a shooting guard is a good center. we have the whole team full of bunch of soso scrubs i say we get rid of all 4 of them n put 1 solid center and joel or big z to back up. beemm i should be a coach haha!

Where does that leave Da’Sean Butler ? I’m hoping that Reilly sees the potential of this player and somehow carries him after his injury is healed, as he could have been a top ten pick if not for his injury.

Jason Williams. We had him a couple years back until he retired, then came out of retirement to join the Magic.

I don’t mind Kenny and Shavlick being invited to camp to compete for a spot. But Shavlick making the team would be a waste of a spot. I just don’t feel he’s good enough to matter. He’s too injury prone and not very athletic. Either give the spot to a proven vet or a promising rookie but wasting it on a player who hasn’t stuck anywhere for viable reasons is a waste.

Take a chance on a shooter like Scheyer, maybe he can develop into a JJ Redick. Try a young big man. I watched JaVale McGee in summer league and boy would I love to have a promising center like that for the Heat.

Mike Miller can play the 2 and so can James Jones we don’t need anyone else. We have players that can player positions other then their main. LBJ is going to run the point for us alot and so will D-Wade. I like our roster, we have a much better bench then Espn thought we would have. Plus T-Mac is still out there and so is AI. Depending on where their mind set is, we may pick one or both of them up soon. I doubt we will need either of them but who knows.

I been wanting J-Will to comeback as well but for some reason Riles doesn’t want him. Maybe something went on behind the scenes back in 06′. I would still love to have Shaq back but I also understand that he would kill our chemistry which is huge in Basketball. I also heard that Starbury wants to come to the Heat and although i’m sure he has alot left in his tank since he been on the bench and out of the NBA for the past 3 yrs. I also know that he also kills Chemistry

I feel like J-DUB is still in the talks with Riley. In my opinion he would be a nice addition coming off the bench. We need to remember his knees are shot but the guy can still shoot and he proved it last year with Orlando during the playoffs when he went off.

I would love to see J-Will and come back. We do need to remember tho that he cant start his knees are shot and not what they use to be. J-dub proved with Orlando last year during the playoffs that he can still be a deadly shooter. Just imagine all the open looks the tri nasty will be giving him.

Hey surya can you look to see if the heat have any interest in Rudy Fernandez. I know that he is available for draft picks, should the heat go all in and trade another future 1st rounder and try to get him. I know he wants to start for a team, but he would be a great addition to the team.

i like hasbrouck, the kid is a good player with a lot of upside. I just hope that Riley finds a way to keep Da’sean around with this roster filling up the way it is. I don’t completely understand the purpose of some of these veterans that dont serve a purpose in my mind too much except for taking up space that rookies or better role players should be in.

thats what am saying instead of having all 15 teen spots filled for the roster when only 12 can wear a jersey per game night i say we get 5 get solid back ups for da starters and 2 what ever players instead of geting 7 good players n then the rest all fucking useless 100 year old scrubs whats the point of even having 15 players… just get 3 more young solid backups dont waste money on 10 other players that we wont even use.
