With the Miami Heat now having 4 picks in the 2nd round they can do a lot of things and address some needs. There biggest needs are PG, PF(even though we will adress it in free agency we still need depth), and C.
My post will cover who I think the Heat should select and why.
Pick 32: Mikhail Torrance PG Alabama
Torrance is big PG at 6"5, 207 lb and averaged 15 points, 5 assists a game. He had a 3.17 3/4 sprint which is impressive for someone his size and shows that he can also excel at fastbreaks. There isn't much video on him so I went back to his HS films. I saw some impressive outside touch and that he could drive to the hoop. He looks like he could provide some points off the bench for this year and then be moved into the PG starting rotation next year or maybe be worked in this year since Mario Chalmers Twitter rant. I think that we should pick PG first becasue of the lack of depth of free agent PG's this year. Also the PF poisition could be filled in free aggency so should be picked later.
Pick 41: Jarvis Varnado PF Miss. St
The NCAA all time block leader Varnado is a 6"9 230 pound PF that is big and powerful down low. He is averaging 13 points 10 boards and almost 5 blocks a game. He does what he wants down low and is just a very powerful player. While watching film he shows a passion for the game and just ALWAYS blocks the shot. I think he is a steal in the second and will fit in very well with the Heat.
Pick 42: Jerome Jordan C Tulsa
The big 7 footer has size and strength down low at 251 pounds. He has a nice offensive touch and plays good defense. He averaged 15 points and 8 boards. When you watch film you see an offensive presence that almost cannot be stopped with such size. Would add depth to the Heat.
Pick 48: Da'Sean Butler SF West Virginia
Butler was the leader of the West Virgina Final Four team and unfortunately had an ACL injury that ended his season. He is very good on the offensive side of the floor averaging 17 points and 6 boards. He shot 40% from the field and if recovers from the ACL injury he will be a very big steal at 48.
So that ends it, the Heat address PG, SF, PF, and C and with very good players. So how would you rank this Heat draft?
