Heat Signs Billy White

Billy White
In a move to shore up another body for training camp (and perhaps tonight's scrimmage), the Miami Heat have announced the signing of forward Billy White.

The move comes a day after the Heat cut Cameron Jones. The final roster, including Eddy Curry who is signed to a non-guaranteed contract, still has room for another spot.

White played four seasons at San Diego State University appearing in 134 career games (124 starts) and averaged 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.11 steals and 26.4 minutes while shooting 60.0 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from three-point range and 66.6 percent from the foul line. He became only the 25th player in Aztec history to eclipse the 1,000-point career mark (1,294). He capped off his collegiate career ranking first in school history in field goal percentage and games started (124), second in games played (134), fourth in field goals made (529), fifth in points (1,294) and steals (149), sixth in blocks (102) and minutes played (3,532), 10th in rebounds (614), 11th in field goal attempts (881), 15th in free throws made (221) and 16th in free throws attempted (332).

As a senior during the 2010-11 season, White appeared in 36 games (all starts) and averaged 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.05 steals and 26.6 minutes while shooting 56.2 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from three-point range and 73.2 percent from the foul line. He was selected to the Mountain West Conference All-Tournament Team and was an All-MWC honorable mention selection for the third season in a row. Additionally, he finished tied for 15th in school history in single-season field goal percentage while ranking third in the conference in field goal percentage, sixth in offensive rebounds (69), tied for seventh in blocks (27), eighth in blocks per game (0.75) and 10th in field goals made (150).
