According to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski and Pat Forde, Rich Paul, the agent and close friend of LeBron James, is currently under investigation by the NCAA regarding potential impermissible benefits provided to Texas Longhorns guard Myck Kabongo.

Per Yahoo, the investigation is currently "wide-ranging," but one incident being focused on is a trip that Kabongo took to Cleveland in the spring to work out with a trainer named Jerry Powell. The NCAA is looking to determine if Paul was responsible for any of Kabongo's travel and expenses. Paul also allegedly called NBA front offices on behalf of Kabongo prior to this year's NBA draft.

A Texas spokesman told Yahoo that the school was aware of the investigation and that the NCAA has already interviewed Kabongo, but declined to comment any further. Powell confirmed that he, too, had talked with the NCAA. As a freshman at Texas last season, Kabongo averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 assists per game.

Paul, a longtime friend of the NBA MVP, recently left the representation powerhouse CAA and was chosen by James, who also left the agency, as his new agent. Various NBA players including Ty Lawson, Eric Bledsoe and ex-Longhorn Tristan Thompson also left CAA in the wake of the defection of Paul and James.
