Wade rehab ahead of schedule, will play tonight

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

The Heat player said that his knee is responding well after playing back-to-back exhibition games in China.

Dwyane Wade said today that he feels "ahead of schedule" in his rehab from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after having played in the Miami Heat's two exhibition games in China. He played 23 minutes in the first game and just the opening eight minutes in the second, but Erik Spoelstra said that he won't have any limits on Wade tonight at home against the Detroit Pistons. Spoelstra said he'll play Wade "to the point of fatigue" this morning.

This news is great, but don't expect Spoelstra to play Wade for 40 minutes. This game is an exhibition, so Wade's minutes may simply just more closely align with the playing time LeBron James and Chris Bosh have received. Spoelstra added that Wade has participated fully in practices and is regaining his timing and rhythm. Wade said that he needs these two weeks before the Oct. 30 start to the season to get "my legs under me."
