Heat final score: Miami outlasts Boston, 120-107

The Miami Heat got their rings and their first victory of the 2012-13 NBA regular season with a 120-107 decision against the rival Boston Celtics.

First came the rings presented by NBA Commissioner David Stern. Then it was time for the banner raising ceremony. What followed next was business as usual with yet another scrappy game against the pesky Boston Celtics for a 120-107 victory in the first game of the 2012-13 NBA regular season.

LeBron James led the way with 26 points, 10 rebounds (7 of which were grabbed in the first quarter alone) along with 3 assists while Dwyane Wade led all players with 29 points. Not to be outdone, Chris Bosh and Ray Allen both chipped in 19 points. Rashard Lewis enjoyed a double-digit scoring night off the bench in his first game as a Heat player.

"It was good to cap this night off with a win and it was an emotional time for all of us in our organization to be able to raise that banner," said coach Erik Spoelstra after the game. "It brought back all the emotions and memories of how much it took to accomplish that collectively."

Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 23 points while Rajon Rondo contributed 20 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists along with a completely unnecessary flagrant foul on Wade in the closing moments of the game. Rondo had also been hit with the game's only technical foul at the 7:16 mark of the fourth quarter.

LeBron James cramped up in the third quarter and played only three minutes in the final quarter, where the Celtics made a late push to get a comfortable lead that had once grown to 19 points down to just 4 points thanks to some hot shooting, primarily from newcomer Leandro Barbosa. Bosh quickly scored on a layup, hit 3 of 4 free throws and threw down an easy dunk in the following minutes to close the door on the Celtics.
