Wade out tonight vs Nuggets as injuries begin to pile up

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

Dwyane Wade will finally rest his injured foot and take the night off in Denver.

Dwyane Wade was a game-time decision in Los Angeles but with the Miami Heat playing again in less than 24 hours in the high altitude of Denver, the team announced that the shooting guard will sit out for the second game during this current road trip.

The injury was originally suffered when Wade inadvertently landed on Chris Bosh's foot during the third quarter of their win against the Houston Rockets on Monday. He did not play in the victory over the Atlanta Hawks in the first game of the trip due to the flu and also jammed his finger on Sunday in their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

As reported by Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel, Wade and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra gave the impression to the media that this was more of a precautionary move. Whether it's actually true or not, there's no denying that he's racked up a fair amount of injuries quickly during this young NBA season.

"It's not anything major," Spoelstra stressed. "It's a bunch of little, minor nagging injuries. So we'll continue to take it just day by day, see how it feels [Friday], go from there, gather a plan and hopefully it'll get healthy soon.

"We just want to make sure this doesn't turn from a nagging small injury into something else, where he's overcompensating. But we'll reevaluate him every day. We're not in panic mode about it right now."

"I'm at a point right now," (Wade) said, "where I just want to figure out how we can get better as a team and try to get healthier every day. So, we'll see."

Asked if an extended break could be an answer, Wade said Wednesday, "I don't know. It's happened both ways before. So we'll see how I feel and I'll make the best decision."
