The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds reported today that Dwyane Wade called Jerry Colangelo and Mike Krzyzewski from Team USA to withdraw from the Olympic team that will compete in London next month. Wade, who had his left knee drained during Miami's second round series with the Indiana Pacers, will need surgery from that bothersome knee. He expects to return for the Heat by the time training camp starts. LeBron James and Chris Bosh will likely participate in the London Olympic games, though.
This news doesn't come as a surprise to many people. Wade struggled in the first halves of every game during the Eastern Conference Finals and appeared to lack some explosiveness throughout the Finals. For the Miami Heat, it's good that Wade won't play in London. He can fully recover from his injury and prepare for next season.
