After a little more than a week of celebration, monstrous cakes and Taco Bell fourth meals, the time has finally come for Pat Riley and the Miami Heat to seek out reinforcements for the title defense. Last year, they got their man very quickly when Shane Battier signed off for less money in order to secure his best chance at winning the first ring of his career. Perhaps other free agents will realize just how brilliant that decision turned out to be for Battier and make the right move.
So who should the Heat set their sights on and sign up?
Steve Nash? Jason Terry? Ray Allen and his mother?
Have your say below and let us know who you want signing on the dotted line as Riley, Micky Arison and Alonzo Mourning share a chuckle, light another round of cigars and admire the Larry O'Brien trophy.
While you wait patiently for rumors, gossip and perhaps actual news, you can check out SB Nation NBA editor Tom Ziller breaking down the list of the best available free agents. We're already seeing players such as Rashard Lewis suddenly in the market thanks to a buyout so there might be lots of twists and turns here.
Proceed with caution.
