Heat visit Warriors & LeBron set to make history

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into tonights game, LeBron James needs just 18 points to become the youngest player in NBA history to score 20,000 points.

This comes at a time when Miami is struggling to put together wins, losing three of their last four games and five of their last seven. Despite the team hitting a bit of a snag, LeBron James is on the verge of making history tonight and his accomplishment is more important than the Heat's "mid season woes".

"You look at how many players have come through this league, the history of the game. That 20K mark is very limited. How many guys have done that? It's very, very limited. It'll be big-time. I'm not going to shy away from that. I'm not a big stats guy as far as individual, but that'll be pretty cool". - LeBron said.

Superstar athletes really crack me up when they say things in the public that are obviously not true. Lebron saying he's not a big stats guy as far as individual is like Kobe saying he's not too concerned about scoring.

To date, Kobe Bryant was the youngest player to reach 29,000 points but Lebron will likely pass him tonight, accomplishing the milestone a little more than 1 year before Kobe did.

Only 37 players in NBA history have reached this milestone and Lebron isn't the fastest to reach 20,000 points, but the youngest. Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdual Jabbar, Shaquille O'neal and Allen Iverson have accomplished this milestone in fewer games.

We'll see if the Heat can ride the momentum of Lebron's acheivement, as they look to seek revenge on the Golden State Warriors. Last time these two teams met, it was the Warriors who put away the Heat in the final seconds when Jarrett Jack found a cutting Draymond Green for a layup.

Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are fresh off of their poor play and recent benching in the 4th quarter and it will be interesting to see how they bounce back. Chris Bosh grabbing one rebound in the last game is absolutely inexcusable and with a depleted front line, the Heat will have to do a better job on the glass to pull this victory out.
