HHH GameTime Preview: HEAT seek revenge in Detroit

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Heat will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back set, which likely means another night off for Dwyane Wade.

Five days ago, the Miami Heat were embarrassed at home against the Detroit Pistons. Will they return the favor Sunday night?

What does appear to be certain is that the Heat (15-5) will assuredly be without Dwyane Wade tonight, because they already played yesterday in their rout of the Minnesota Timberwolves and also because he suffered a scary knee-to-knee collision with Wolves guard Kevin Martin. There's also the biggest task at hand so far this season, their first meeting with the unstoppable Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, which Wade will not want to miss. Unfortunately for Miami, the team had trouble against the Pistons just days ago without him so more will be needed from the backcourt this time around.

Michael Beasley was a late scratch from Saturday's game against his old team because of a strained hamstring but should be back and his offense will be needed in Wade's absence. Rashard Lewis had his moments off the bench against Minnesota, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and scoring 10 points off the bench.

Last night's rebounding effort was much better and it will be needed again tonight, with that being one of the key reasons for the blowout loss to the Pistons. The Timberwolves were without Kevin Love and still out-rebounded the Heat by one total rebound so there's still more work to be done. Chris Bosh shook off an errant blow to the head from Shane Battier to grab nine rebounds in 24 minutes, though none of them were on offense. LeBron was a beast off the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds already by halftime and quickly reaching his season high for a full game in the process. He closed with 14 rebounds and two assists shy of a triple-double. Beasley should be able to contribute too and he led the team in rebounding versus the Chicago Bulls.

The Detroit Pistons have improved to a 10-10 record, beating the Chicago Bulls 92-75 last night for their fourth straight victory. Brandon Jennings had another strong game as he led the team with 33 points. Will Bynum is still out with a strained left hamstring. Rodney Stuckey had to leave the game against the Bulls early because of a sore left knee and his status is up in the air for tonight as of now.

Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm EST and the game will be shown on Sun Sports.
