Preview: Heat host the Pistons and look for 25 in a row

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Heat return from their five game road trip to face the Pistons looking for their 25th consecutive win.

The Detroit Pistons are quietly on their own little streak. It's just not the type of streak that they would hope for. While the Miami Heat have won 24 straight games and are looking for number 25, the Pistons have dropped nine games in a row while allowing 107.9 PPG in all their games in March. They have lost three games this month by 30+ points.

They are two teams in opposite directions, but the Heat better get used to that. While they just erased a 27 point deficit to beat the lowly Cavs, they have the Pistons, Bobcats and Magic on deck -- all teams at the bottom of the conference with not much else to lose but give everything they have to try and be the team that beats the Heat and ends the streak.

It seems like ages ago, but the Heat have lost to the Pistons earlier this season. Back on December 28, the Pistons beat Miami by 10 in Detroit while Dwyane Wade served a one game suspension. The Heat got some revenge in Miami on January 25, beating them 110-88.

With 15 games left in the season and Miami a few games away from clinching the Eastern Conference, one would think this game doesn't have much meaning, but Miami is protecting a league-best home court record, league-best record and of course the winning streak.

What to Watch for:
Look for the Heat to try and come out with better energy from the start. Since they are at home, and with their recent struggle, I'm sure Coach Spoelstra will make this an emphasis. Let's see if the addition of Chris Andersen helps slow down Greg Monroe who has had some good game against the Heat this season. And as usual, LeBron James should have his way offensively, doing whatever he very well pleases to do.

Hopefully Miami puts this in the bag and is able to give some extra rest to the starters in the game.

The game starts at 7:30pm and can also be seen on NBATV.
