The Miami HEAT once again put on quite a show at the AmericanAirlines Arena but this time it was the organization who were the stars today in yet another successful and highly entertaining Family Festival.
The 16th annual charity event was presented by Carnival Cruise Lines and benefited SafeSpace, the Jackson Memorial Foundation's Guardian Angels, the Miami Coalition for a Safe & Drug-Free Community and the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund and took place on a gorgeous Sunday, a day after the #1 team in the NBA put away the Philadelphia Sixers. The event is the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund's largest annual fundraiser and this year was able to raise just over half a million dollars.
As if rubbing shoulders with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Pat Riley, Chris Bosh, Ray Allen and the rest of the HEAT players, coaches, local celebrities (including yours truly) and their families wasn't enough the AmericanAirlines Arena's backyard was turned into a themed, interactive, carnival-like extravaganza. But the REAL star of the entire festival has to the be the countless dining options featuring the top restaurants and chefs from all over South Florida with as much food, beverages and all manners of sweet treats are offered (at no extra cost). Fans were also able to participate with HEAT players, coaches in a variety of interactive activities throughout the course of the event.
Here's just a few of the photos that we were able to capture between consuming various samples of edibles on display (in order to thoroughly review the event, of course).
