Game 1 - The Washington Wizards expanded the ranks of the Eastern Conferences teams at .500 or better to four by sweeping the Detroit Pistons in a home-and-home to close out 2013. Today, they'll host the last team besides the HEAT to win a title, the Dallas Mavericks, in a 6PM tipoff to start out the action.
Game 2 - At 7PM, the Indiana Pacers try to stay ahead of the HEAT. They're currently on a five-game winning streak that started after they dropped a 97-94 decision to Miami on December 18. Their visiting suitor is the Raptors of Toronto, who will be attempting to reach the .500 mark for the first time since November 6th, when they lost 92-90 to the Charlotte Bobcats to go to 2-3. It's notable that the two teams held their respective opponents to a combined 17.5% shooting clip in the fourth quarter's of yesterday's games. Indiana held the Cleveland Cavaliers to 18.8% (thee-of-16), and the Raptors kept the Chicago Bulls to 16.7% (four-of-24) as each team turned a close game into an easy victory.
Game 3 - The New Orleans Pelicans will visit the Minnesota TimberWolves as each try to climb back into the crowded Western Conference playoff picture. Each team is a single game below .500, and the teams sit at ninth and 10th respectively. Tipoff is at 8PM. The Wolves are 0-8 when failing to reach the 100 point plateau.
Game 5 - The Los Angeles Clippers continue to try and elevate themselves above the second tier of the Western Conference (behind Portland, OKC, and San Antonio) as they welcome the Bobcats for a 9:30 PM showdown.
