Looking at the schedule, the Miami Heat have 19 games remaining in the 2013-14 NBA regular season. This is the perfect time to start resting players.
The Heat are clearly out of sync and seemingly out of energy. Now is the time to be proactive. Now is the time to get these guys rested.
The next nine games could be a perfect chance for the Heat to rotate players in and out of the rotation so that as many players as possible can get as much rest as possible.
Then for the remaining ten games or so, no more rest. That's the time to get back in sync and get prepped for the NBA Playoffs. The players should be coming back fresh and ready for what's to come when the postseason arrives.
If the Heat choose to disregard all the experts out there who say how fatiguing it is to try to get to the Finals four straight years in a row, then they are preparing for failure. Although I am not a fan of Steve Kerr the announcer, he has been in that situation with the Bulls as a player and knows his stuff about that. He's been preaching all year about it. Now is the time to use that expertise and take action.
Rest the players. They clearly need it. And then get back in the saddle for one more journey towards the NBA championship.
