When Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert isn't writing angry letters on Comic Sans, he likes to vent on his Twitter account.
Most recently this happened last night when the Miami HEAT got hot down the stretch and his team wasn't able to deliver a counter-punch, mainly because their predictable drives to the basket were erased at the rim more than once by the likes of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem.
Here's one such block:
But in all honesty, this was happening from the start of the game too...
At any rate, Gilbert had an issue with the officiating by the end of the night which should be enough to earn some sort of fine from the NBA.
That is beyond incredible. What a complete and total joke and tra— Dan Gilbert (@cavsdan) March 19, 2014
And here we go with the full-blown excuses and complaining...
No KI, LD, AB, CJ&we almost get win.You have to respect effort &passion.Had we just not given up 12 FT&shot only 3 in 4Q(9 fouls V. 2)...— Dan Gilbert (@cavsdan) March 19, 2014
Don't get me wrong, I certainly respect the effort and passion the Cavs displayed on the court (which is nothing new for the Heat, with opposing teams routinely giving their best in an effort to beat the defending champs) but "almost a win" ultimately means nothing. That's like saying the Cavs "almost" signed LeBron in 2010. What, too soon?
The biggest mystery is what Gilbert meant to say at end of that first tweet, especially since it's not like he ran out of characters:
Was he distracted by a play from his former money-making player who arrived to his franchise not because of a championship vision but because of lottery balls bouncing Gilbert's way?
And now this same player has subsequently beaten his former team 13 out of 14 games since 2010.
If you have any better ideas as to the puzzling ending to his tweet let us know. Also, if you know the name of the bank where we can cash in on his infamous guarantee, we'd appreciate that too...
I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA TITLE BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER 'KING' WINS ONE.
You can take it to the bank.
Oh, and Dan, never change. Never stop being Dan, please.
