Dwyane Wade likely to sit out game vs Trail Blazers due to ankle injury

HEAT chose to rest Wade tonight after ankle injury suffered last week.

Add another injury to the list of setbacks Dwyane Wade has suffered this season.

An ankle sprain suffered last week against the Boston Celtics didn't appear to slow him down in the next game against the Memphis Grizzlies last Friday when he played 33 minutes and scored 14 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. He did sit out the second night of the back-to-back set in their 105-95 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, but that has been the norm during this regular season.

At this point it's hard to tell whether this is truly the kind of injury Wade has to sit out for or whether it's simply a matter of the Heat resting him for precautionary reasons. While the goal of having Wade healthy entering the playoffs is certainly a good idea, there's also that little matter of getting the team to break out of their worrisome recent slump and forging team chemistry with a healthy roster together with precious little time remaining in the regular season.

If Wade is truly injured then by all means, he should rest. But the Heat will need LeBron James and especially Chris Bosh to step up big-time tonight and get that much-needed victory over the Trail Blazers. Another vintage performance from Ray Allen would certainly help matters as well.
