Miami Heat lose 'a meaningless preseason game' to Atlanta Hawks, 92-87

I couldn't have said it better myself. Erik Spoelstra called Thursday night's game "meaningless," and that's exactly what it was. Much like Super Bowl XXXIX, if the game happens in Jacksonville, it really doesn't matter that much. Miami lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 92-87, after yet another slow start and yet another furious finish. Daequan Cook led the way with 20 points (which tells you something right there). Like I've said before, you naturally want to win every game. But I don't take Miami's 2-5 preseason record as any bad sign of things to come. The 2008 Detroit Lions went undefeated in the preseason and winless when it counted. Michael Beasley got very little playing time after he got nicked up. I'm not trying to No one's playing at 100 percent. I know I sound like I'm eliminating the negative and accentuating the positive. I just still think this is a solid playoff team that will wind up edging out this very Hawks team. Right now, I'm just focused on Tuesday.
