Examiner.com - The Shore Club hosts DJ Irie's pool party: The familiar face to regular visitors of the AAA recognize Irie as the guy who plays music and frequently asks people to get on their feet. Turns out he's also a swimming advocate! In all seriousness, the event Sunday was for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Miami, so hat-tip to the spinmaster. Now if he wants to do something truly charitable, he'll dial it down a bit this season. It's a basketball game, not a club.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Alonzo Mourning to take front-office job: Big Zo's taking a job as "Vice President for Player Development." He says he doesn't have the temperment for coaching, but any time you can get a future Hall-of-Famer on the payroll, it's a good thing (excluding Isiah Thomas). I'm thinking he's going to wind up being a Patrick Ewing-lite for the Heat, hoping to duplicate Ewing's success in Orlando.
Noticabely absent is Pat Riley stuff. I'll have my take on the Cleveland scuttlebutt tonight, with what he should do and what he will do. Are they different? Tune in to find out...
