The ESPN Heat Index begins Monday October 11th, plan accordingly

Just a quick reminder that Monday October 11th will see the launch of ESPN's The Heat Index and that unfortunately will also mean that it's end of our official association with the ESPN TrueHoop Network. As hopeful as I can be that the site can eventually become a part of the Heat clubhouse page on, the site will continue on regardless and it's business as usual. I'd like to thank TrueHoop's Kevin Arnovitz and Henry Abbott for taking a chance on me and for all their mentoring and helpfulness this year as well as the rest of the bloggers on the network who do fine work on a daily basis for their respective teams. Please continue to support their sites as well for the good of the network. As your new editor I am excited to continue the good work put in by founder Matthew Bunch and make this site reach new heights with exclusive coverage of the Heat and the rest of the NBA. As the site goes independent, you might see some changes around here and hopefully some new features in the near future. As far as I know, Hot Hot Hoops is the only Heat blog with full season credentials which means I will be able to bring you exclusive content from having first-hand access to the team including player interviews, behind-the-scenes photographs and insider information. I would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions, comments, or general questions. Please contact me if you'd like to be considered for a contributing writing gig and send examples of your work. If you would like to help support the site get in touch with me with your ideas. Reading all the positive comments from so many loyal readers supporting us this past week has only inspired me to put more work into this site and make it even better. This will easily be the most anticipated Heat season ever and I can't wait for the regular season to actually start. Hope you'll continue to enjoy Hot Hot Hoops for the best coverage anywhere. Sincerely, Surya Fernandez Managing Editor
