Heat Week presented by Pepsi kicks off Friday

MIAMI, FL – As the Miami HEAT ramps up for the highly anticipated 2010-11 season, the franchise aims to celebrate during the days leading up to the Home Opener versus intrastate rival Orlando Magic on October 29. Presented by Pepsi, HEAT Week will begin October 22, and the HEAT will host a different event each day to generate enthusiasm throughout South Florida. During HEAT Week, the festivities will touch the community in a variety of exciting ways including various community events and unique opportunities to engage in the HEAT experience and feel it live. A complete listing of all HEAT Week events is listed below: October 22 HEAT Car Decal Event (6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. & 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) This season, HEAT fans will have two opportunities—during the morning and afternoon drives—to stop by the AmericanAirlines Arena and have a FREE HEAT window decal placed on their cars (while supplies last). Having a HEAT decal on your ride is the best way to show some love to your favorite team! Stop by to meet the HEAT Dancers, pick up some free HEAT gear, and get your ride ready for HEAT season. HEAT Happy Hour Presented by Miller Lite: (5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) HEAT fans can start their weekend early by joining the HEAT Experience for a HEAT Happy Hour presented by Miller Lite and hosted at Brickell Irish Pub. The HEAT Dancers, Burnie, and the Xtreme Team will mingle with HEAT fans while Enrique Santos from WRTO Mix 98.3 will host the festivities. Miller Lite will offer drink specials and the Miller Lite Girls will be distributing Miller Lite promotional items. Brickell Irish Pub is located at 1471 South Miami Avenue in Downtown Miami. October 23 Papa John’s Pizza Deliveries: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Papa John’s may deliver more than just pizza on this day! Order a Papa John’s pizza during the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. from select Papa John’s locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and it might be delivered by a HEAT player, a HEAT Dancer, Burnie or the Xtreme Team! October 24 HEAT Week Parties on the Move Attention Downtown Miami: Look for the Fireball Express, our interactive firetruck, to bring the HEAT Experience to your local watering holes starting at 4:00 p.m. The HEAT Dancers, Burnie, and the Xtreme Team will make surprise stops at select locations in the downtown Miami area equipped with giveaways, goodies and game tickets. October 25 HEAT After Dark (7:00 p.m. – Midnight) HEAT fans ages 18 and older are invited to come down to the AmericanAirlines Arena to engage in the thrill of playing in the coolest pickup basketball game ever on the HEAT hardwood. Fans will enjoy an evening of hoops, HEAT Dancers, music and special lighting during HEAT After Dark on October 25 from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the public and all participants will receive a free HEAT After Dark T-shirt. October 26 Bacardi Road Rally at AmericanAirlines Arena (6:30 p.m.) Join in-Arena announcer, Michael Baiamonte and The HEAT Experience as they usher in the 2010-11 regular season by hosting a Bacardi Road Rally at AmericanAirlines Arena to watch the HEAT as they take on the Boston Celtics. Fans are invited to come down to the HEAT’s house and join thousands of other fans to cheer their team to victory. The event is free and open to the public and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Parking will be available in the P2 parking garage for only $5.00 (while space is available). October 27 Bacardi Road Rally at Sandbar Sports Grill (7:00 p.m.) The HEAT takes on the 76ers in Philadelphia in game two of the regular season and the party moves south. Fans are invited to rendezvous at Sandbar Sports Grill located at 3064 Grand Avenue in Coconut Grove. The event is free and open to the public. October 28 Burnie’s Random Ticket Giveaway (All Day) The beloved HEAT mascot will be impossible to miss around South Florida and will distribute a limited number of free tickets for the Home Opener on October 29. But you won’t know where he’s stationed unless you’re a friend on Facebook. Clues will be given exclusively to Facebook followers so HEAT fans are encouraged to become friends by logging onto Facebook.com/MiamiHEAT. October 29 Home Opener vs. Magic (8:00 p.m.) The Home Opener on October 29 promises to be the most historic night in HEAT history when your Miami HEAT takes on Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. The HEAT will distribute 20,000 "I. Was. There." commemorative T-shirts courtesy of Carnival Cruise Lines to all fans in attendance. In addition, 20,000 copies of a special collector’s edition of Tipoff magazine will be available to fans in attendance. Fan Up, Miami! and make sure you’re in your seats when the game begins to catch the world premiere of the 2010-11 Player Introduction Video Sequence.
