Planned demonstration near AA Arena forces Heat to open doors early

From a press release today: A large demonstration unrelated to the Miami HEAT or the AmericanAirlines Arena is scheduled to take place in the immediate area, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 29. With the team’s Home Opener scheduled for the same timeframe, HEAT fans are advised to adjust their travel schedules accordingly to allow ample time to navigate the area around the Arena. To accommodate fans arriving for the game, doors to the AmericanAirlines Arena will open earlier than usual at 6:00 p.m. The huge protest planned by Miami-Dade cops and firefighters is designed to ruin your commute to a sports event that has absolutely nothing to do with their plight. That's really a great way to drum up support from residents. Of course with property taxes the way they are and the economy the way it is, I'm sure the city has cash overflowing to not only reverse these planned pay cuts but give these city employees fat raises. Hey, why not give all the Heat fans parking tickets while they're watching the game to seal the deal! Update: Didn't even notice if there was a protest. Traffic was fine and fans got into the arena early. Problem solved. Good luck to the city workers in their fight because the parking for the game stretched out for several blocks in streets that I would not classify as "safe".
