PreHeat: Philadelphia 76ers (3-12) at Miami Heat (8-7)

  • Tonight’s match marks the second encounter between the teams. The Sixers started off their season with a visit from the Heat who coasted to a 97-87 win. Wade led all scorers with 30 points and James Jones added 20 points on a 6-9 shooting display from the three point line.
  • The Sixers were most efficient when attacking with their athletic tandem of Evan Turner, Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young. The young trio combined for 41 of the team’s 87 points. Given the Heat’s deficit in defending the fast break, the Sixers would be smart to exploit it and the Heat to contain them.
  • The lack of towering big men in the Sixers’ roster has given the Heat one of the closest battle-of-the-boards results this season, getting slightly outrebounded 38-37. If there was a game for the Heat to focus on the efficiency in their rebounding, this one would be most adequate.
  • Dampier looks likely to make his Heat debut tonight. The development of chemistry on the court is adding another ingredient in Dampier which will lengthen the synergy process. Patience is paramount. The hype might overcome his actual contribution on the court, but at this point, it can only help.
