MIAMI, FL – The HEAT announced today that Friday night’s game vs. the New Orleans Hornets was the highest rated regular season HEAT game ever on Sun Sports. The Sun Sports broadcast posted a 6.8 average TV household rating in Miami/Fort Lauderdale market (107,000 homes), making it the highest rated cable or broadcast program for the entire day. The game peaked at an impressive 9.5 HH rating from 10:15 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. (146,000 homes). The previous high for a regular season game on Sun Sports was 6.5 on January 7, 1998 vs. Chicago, Michael Jordan’s last game in Miami as a member of the Bulls. Four of the HEAT six regular season games this season have registered a 5.4 rating or higher. Last season, the only game to register at least a 5.0 rating was the Game 5 playoff matchup against the Boston Celtics (5.96). The last regular season game to register at least a 5.0 rating was the March 4, 2008 game vs. the Phoenix Suns (5.57), a contest that marked the return of former HEAT center Shaquille O’Neal.
