Through the Net: The Aftermath of LeBron's visit to Cleveland

  • Amid all the LeBron hype, some much-needed understatement
  • A huge crowd showed up to see LeBron's return to Cleveland, they just weren't around the year before he arrived in Cleveland to play for the Cavs. Bandwagon fans?
  • If you have the time or inclination, you can pour over this huge compilation of LeBron articles from this year.
  • Hopefully the city of Cleveland was able to get a lot of venom out of their system last night and Barry Petchesky of Deadspin wants you to get over it already. Easily the best line is the last one: "Christ. Seattle lost their entire team and they don't bitch half as much."
  • LeBron beats the NFL in ratings last night.
  • Lots and lots of tweets from last night compiled by Kevin Arnovitz and Tom Haberstroh of ESPN's Heat Index.
  • Speaking of Twitter, Dan LeBatard last night: "Tomorrows media slant: Selfish egomaniac LeBron fails to get Z involved in unimportant victory." "Whitlock: Choker LeBron fails to score in 4th qrtr. Wojnarowski: LeBron left toilet seat up at halftime. Simmons: Bird would have scored 40." "Rest of media: LeBron wins totally meaningless, irrelevant game that would have been totally meaningful, relevant if he had lost it."
  • Exclusive video of a meeting between Erik Spoelstra and LeBron James as moderated by Pat Riley.
  • LeBron James was playing for the Portland Trailblazers last night? Someone at TNT is going to get a lecture after the game...
  • 1,124 words essentially about LeBron walking to the Heat team bus after the game but also what he left behind. Oh, there was a few words sprinkled in about poor Cavs owner Dan Gilbert's misfortune as well. The one who lucked into the right to draft LeBron by virtue of ping-pong balls and made a fortune off of LeBron and made his team relevant over the course of 7 years because of it. Oh the humanity. Why couldn't Gilbert have made even more money if LeBron had re-signed a second time? Now I'm getting all misty-eyed over someone worth $1.2 billion. I promised myself I wouldn't cry. Fun fact: Gilbert is from Detroit, not Cleveland.
  • Is the victory against the Cavs a turning point for the Heat's season? ESPN SportsNation respondents in Florida say yes by 75%. However, 70% in Ohio say no. Shocker. Overall, it's split down the middle after more than 5,000 votes. What do you think?
  • I See Deadline People with a must-read post about people's expectations of LeBron and criticizes the media's depiction of him: "We harp on LeBron James’ legacy like it’s been tarnished by his decisions, but what if being the next Michael Jordan isn’t something LeBron James cares about anymore? Charles Barkley might. Jason Whitlock might. You might. But, that says a lot more about you than it does about him. Maybe forming a super team with two of his friends, and truly enjoying what he does for a living is more important to LeBron James than your flimsy definition of his legacy. Maybe he knows that if this team wins four or five championships, you’ll wind up writing his legacy anyway. We get it already. You wouldn’t have done any of this. Fine. But, does LeBron James really need to apologize every time he does something that you, personally, wouldn’t have done? Because he’s made it perfectly clear that he has no intentions of doing so."
