From NBA.com:
The Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade and the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played March 1-7.
Miami posted a 3-0 week, which included wins over the Lakers and Hawks, behind Wade's league-leading 33.3 points and 12.0 assists. Wade collected a point-assist double-double in each Heat win and posted two 20-point, 10-assist, five-rebound games. Wade became the first Heat player with 4,000 career field goals made on March 4 in Miami's 114-111 victory over the Lakers.
I think its equally impressive that the Heat went 3-0, especially considering who they beat, and that Wade is putting up MVP-like numbers since returning from his calf injury. Is this a sign of things to come? We can only hope, as the Heat make a push for the Playoffs. When the Heat are playing at their best, they can beat any team in this league. Hopefully they can bring that kind of effort in the 1st round of the Playoffs.
Here are Wade's stats for the three games between March 1-7:
March 2 vs. Golden State: Posted 35 points, 12 assists, six rebounds and four steals in a 110-106 win over the Warriors.
March 4 vs. L.A. Lakers: Tallied 27 points, 14 assists and five rebounds during a 114-111 victory over the Lakers.
March 6 vs. Atlanta: Totaled 38 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals as Miami topped the Hawks 100-94.
