A comment on commenting at Hot Hot Hoops

As we're in the middle of the playoff season, and traffic from friends and foes increases, I thought it would be a good time to make clear what the expectations of commenters on this here blog are. I do like to view commenting as a right of the readership; if you view something, and have an opinion about it, you should be able to share and add to it. However, there are certain things that you may do to have your right revoked on a case-by-case basis. Ultimately, it rests in my hands what does and does not fly. Here are a few things to stay away from: -Excessive profanity: One word carefully placed probably won't hurt you, but a string of swears will require me to take it down. -Slurs: Whether they be ethnic or based on sexual preference, this is a no brainer. It will be removed immediately. -ALL CAPS: This isn't so offensive, and I'll probably let it slide, but seriously, don't do it. It's just annoying. If you're found to be in violation of these rules by me, your comment will be unapproved without warning or notice. If you feel your comment was unapproved unfairly, you can reach me at I'm open to a counterargument, but considering I try to be lax with the standards as it is, don't push me. This is a living list, and will be updated as necessary, but please just use common sense. I'm not going to unapproved a comment because it's critical of this blog or the Heat. The Heat don't pay my bills, and there are plenty of things to point out and laugh about me and my writing. But this is no place to be offensive. It's just sports, for goodness sakes.
