The NBA’s undisputed winner of "Free Agency 2010" was the Miami Heat who netted all three of the top free agents in a star-studded crowd. But there was quite a few other roster spots to fill so here’s a quick look back at how the roster took shape and quickly see who’s in and who’s out.
2009-2010 roster: Dwyane Wade, Joel Anthony, Carlos Arroyo, Michael Beasley, Daequan Cook, Yakhoube Diawara, Udonis Haslem, Jamaal Magloire, Jermaine O’Neal, Quentin Richardson, Dorell Wright, James Jones, Shavlik Randolph, Kenny Hasbrouck, Mario Chalmers.
Key losses: Michael Beasley (traded on July 12th to Minnesota for 2011, 2014 second round picks, cash), Daequan Cook (traded on June 23rd to OKC Thunder along with #18 pick, Eric Bledsoe for the #32 pick, Dexter Pittman), Jermaine O’Neal (signed with Boston Celtics), Dorell Wright (signed with Golden State Warriors), Quentin Richardson (signed with Orlando Magic).
Returning players: Dwyane Wade (six years, $107.5 million), Joel Anthony (five year $18 million), Carlos Arroyo (veteran minimum free agency signing), Udonis Haslem (five years, $20+ million), James Jones (bought out, later re-signed to veteran minimum contract), Mario Chalmers, Jamaal Magloire (veteran minimum free agency signing), Shavlik Randolph (partially guaranteed contract), Kenny Hasbrouck (partially guaranteed contract).
Key additions:
Lebron James: via sign-and-trade on July 9th (6-year, $110 million) with Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for two first-round picks between 2013 and 2017, 2012 second round pick previously acquired from New Orleans, future second round pick acquired from Oklahoma City*, Cavs have right to swap first round picks in 2012, $15 million trade exemption.
Chris Bosh: via sign and trade on July 9th (6-year, $110 million) with Toronto Raptors who are given back their 2011 first round pick originally sent to Miami in the Shawn Marion-Jermaine O’Neal trade, Miami’s 2011 first round pick (lottery protected), $16 million trade exemption.
Mike Miller (free agency signing, 5 year $25 million contract), Zydrunas Ilgauskas (veteran minimum free agency signing), Eddie House (veteran minimum free agency signing), Dexter Pittman (2nd round pick), Juwan Howard (veteran minimum free agency signing), Patrick Beverley (partially guaranteed 2-year contract), Da'Sean Butler (partially guaranteed 2-year contract)
*The 48th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft (which turned out to be Latavious Williams) was traded to Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a future second round pick (later forwarded to the Cleveland Cavs) and cash.
