Multiple sources are now saying that Mike Bibby has chose to forgo the final $6 million in the last year of his contract and his first choice is the Miami Heat. Apparently the feeling is mutual and the team may have had the inside track to acquiring his services as he is the brother-in-law of Eddie House. It remains to be seen what is truly left in the tank for the soon-to-be 33 year old guard but the Heat's training staff has done well before in squeezing the last drops of usefulness of players at the twilight of the careers.
.
Many question how much he could help the team out but if he can bring some sort of semblance to playmaking in crunch-time of tight games then it's well worth the low risk. He will not help the Heat's perimeter defense and might even make it worse but the team isn't playing Carlos Arroyo for a reason and Mario Chalmers has been erratic all season. Once Bibby officially signs with the Heat, we'll delve more in depth into the issues at hand.

Even better, the Heat are reported to be the favorites to land Troy Murphy as well.
.
The source also said Miami is the front-runner for Troy Murphy. The Heat will have to cut as many players as they sign, and the source said Carlos Arroyo and Jamaal Magloire are the likeliest candidates.
.
While Bibby may or not be the answer for the Heat's troubles, Murphy represents a clear upgrade with what the Heat already have. It wouldn't surprise me if both of these players agreed to join Miami with assurances that they would be starters sooner or later. With many other elite teams coveting these two, signing them away also denies these teams chances to potentially get stronger.
