Dwyane Wade named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for March 7-13

MIAMI, FLThe NBA announced today that Miami HEAT guard Dwyane Wade was named the Eastern Conference Player of Week for games played March 7-13. This marks a franchise-record 15th time Wade has received the accolades and the 31st time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Week honors. Additionally, this marks the third time Wade has received Player of the Week honors this season, having previously earned the honors for games played December 6-12 and for games played December 27 thru January 2. He led the HEAT to a 2-1 week, averaging 28.7 points, 6.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.67 steals and 2.67 blocks while shooting 50.8 percent (30-of-59) from the field and 95.7 percent (22-of-23) from the foul line. He led the team in blocks in all three games, scoring and steals twice each and in assists and minutes once. Wade scored a game-high 38 points vs. Portland on March 8 while posting six rebounds, five assists, a game-high two blocks and one steal in 42:38 minutes of action. He then posted 20 points, five rebounds, five assists, a game-high four steals and one block in 39:28 minutes on March 10 in a 94-88 win against the Los Angeles Lakers. On March 12, in a 33-point, 118-85, victory against the Memphis Grizzlies, Wade became the first guard since Michael Jordan (1988) and the first player since Shaquille O’Neal (2000) to record at least 28 points, nine assists, five rebounds and five blocks in the same game. His five blocks tied his career high. Among league leaders this season, Wade ranks fourth in scoring (25.5), 16th in steals (1.45), 17th in minutes (37.2), tied for 28th in blocks (1.02), 30th in assists (4.5) and tied for 31st in field goal percentage (.499).
