NBA, Heat 2011-12 Schedule Announced, For What It's Worth

The NBA and the Miami HEAT optimistically released their schedule for the 2011-12 regular the middle of a contentious lockout between the owners and the players that threatens to cancel or delay the season, which would throw this carefully planned schedule right out the window.

MHIf games are cancelled then we could see a shortened schedule like what happened during the lockout of 1998-99, which featured back-to-back-to-backs during a 50-game regular season which ended up starting in February of 1999. Any re-shuffling of dates this time around would necessitate a completely re-worked schedule then the one released today. Simply pushing back the dates and having a full 82-game season and postseason (if and when a CBA is agreed upon by both parties) doesn't appear to be an option either as all of these arenas already have dates reserved for other entertainment programs such as music concerts or traveling circuses.

If you're feeling good about how current negotiations are moving along for a new labor agreement then feel free to study the new schedule to your liking, but don't get too upset should it disappear into thin air. In other words, don't bother making firm plans with a friend or a date for any these games.

Here's the official press release from the HEAT:

MIAMI , FL The Miami HEAT announced its 2011-12 regular season schedule today.
