Miami Heat's LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to host all-star event at FIU

New, comments

It's been over three months since Heat fans have been able to see any NBA-caliber basketball action up close and personal.  Well, Miami's Big 3 aren't going to let the NBA lockout keep them from entertaining the fans of South Florida anymore.  LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are going to host their own all-star exhibition game that's going to be played at Florida International University on October 8th at 7p.m.

Unlike their teammate, Wade and Bosh haven't been involved in any of these summer pro-am games, but LeBron has already played in four of them in different parts of the country (Cleveland, Los Angeles, Baltimore and Philadelphia) and is scheduled to take part in another one on Saturday.  D-Wade is going to join James in this one, which is set to be played in Winston-Salem, NC and is being hosted by Chris Paul.

As for the game being played down here in South Florida, Wade confirmed on Wednesday that the game has been scheduled and players from around the league are already confirming.  According to FIU, they will release formal information about the event sometime on Thursday with ticket sales beginning on Monday.  The game will be played at FIU's U.S. Century Bank Arena, which holds 5,000 seats.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, the participant list is pretty sick.  Along with the Heat's Big 3 are Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo, Jamal Crawford, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Rudy Gay, Jonny Flynn, Eric Bledsoe, Wesley Matthews, Lou Williams and Eddy Curry.  Also joining the fun will be former Heat players Caron Butler and Dorell Wright, as well as current Heat point guard Mario Chalmers.

The teams will be split up depending on who endorses Nike products and who is part of Nike's Brand Jordan Division.  Interestingly enough, that would have Wade on one side and Bosh and LeBron on the other side.  Wade's team will be coached by comedian Kevin Hart, who has assisted Dwyane in other charitable events and can be seen in the ‘Dominate Another Day' Jordan commercials with D-Wade.  The other team will be coached by Miami-based rapper Rick Ross.

The one issue that some fans are having with the game is due to the day that it's scheduled on.  October 8th is also the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur, which will be observed from sundown on the 7th until sundown on the 8th
