Only a lucky few ever get to make it to the NBA, but here's a project that could be your chance to get your basketball skills noticed by the right people so you can possibly become a star in your own right.
Hollywood filmmaker Robert Townsend and NBA legend Isiah Thomas are looking for fresh talent to star in their latest project called Playin' For Love. No previous acting experience is required but you must be able to play ball and be a male between the ages of 16-23. Lucky for you, those skills will be on display at none other than AmericanAirlines Arena. How's that for motivation?
The film begins shooting this November in the historic Overtown area. As for what the project is all about, here's the scoop directly from press release...
Playin' for Love is part of a community film initiative that includes a movie production and student training program designed to provide local youth with a positive alternative to violence. The film centers around an arrogant celebrated high school basketball coach who gets his life turned upside down when a superstar player transfers to his school and his mother tries to take over the team.
Participants must arrive on time at 8:00 AM and in basketball gear. The auditions are closed to the general public. Individuals interested in auditioning can register online at the City of Miami's CRA's website at www.miamicra.com/seopwcra.
