Miami Heat re-signs Mickell Gladness to 10-day contract

The Miami Heat announced earlier today that they had re-signed rookie center Mickell Gladness to a 10-day contract. Gladness had rejoined the Heat on Saturday and is with the team in Atlanta. He attended this morning's shootaround but did not participate, and in all likelihood he will be inactive for tonight's game in Atlanta. The Heat have been playing with 14 players on their roster since waiving Gladness last week.

So far this season Gladness had appeared in six games for the Heat, averaging 0.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 blocks in 3.5 minutes per game. His best outing came on New Years Day against the Charlotte Bobcats. He played 9 minutes and came away with 2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

The Heat can sign him to another 10-day contract when this one runs out if they so choose. When they originally waived Gladness it was believe that the move was to open up a roster spot for a potential free agent signing (see Przybilla, Joel). It seems that Przybilla is still deciding where to sign, so the Heat will retain Gladness to provide insurance at the end of the bench.
