Miami native and Heat player Udonis Haslem will be opening his first SUBWAY restaurant in Hollywood, Florida on Thursday, December 12th.

As part of the Grand Opening, Haslem himself will be preparing the first 10 sandwiches from 3:00 to 4:30pm at the Oakwood Plaza, 3050 Oakwood Boulevard, Hollywood FL 33020. Customers at the Grand Opening will be able to meet and hang with the Heat's co-captain. The event will also feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a DJ, prizes, giveaways, an appearance by the Sub Man and more. Future store appearances from the three-time NBA champion will be announced on his Twitter account (@ThisisUD) and on Instagram (UD40).

"When I was in college, I struggled with my weight," said Haslem. "I had to learn about making better choices concerning how and what I eat. That's exactly what SUBWAY represents and why I chose to partner with such an iconic brand."

According to the Heat's press release, "Haslem's SUBWAY® restaurant is among the first in the nation to showcase the chain's "metro" redesign. The new layout features a comfortable lounging area, modern finishes and flooring, and an overall contemporary look and feel. This is the first of multiple SUBWAY® locations Haslem will open in tandem with his business partner, Max Casanova."
