HEAT pulling in record television ratings during win streak

New, comments

The Miami HEAT are setting records on the court and on TVs across South Florida.

USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat's winning ways have been record breaking in more ways than one.

According to Fox Sports Florida / Sun Sports, the Heat vs Orlando Magic game on Wednesday March 6, 2013 set another franchise television record pulling in their highest rated regular season game EVER on Sun Sports with a remarkable 9.83 household rating, per The Nielsen Co.

They broke the ratings down even further, stating that "the game peaked at a 13.8 HH from 9:45 p.m. - 10 p.m. and had nine quarter hours at a 8.9 HH rating or higher". Even more impressive, it was the number one rated program of the day for all key demos in the Miami market.

Just a game earlier versus the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday March 4, 2013 the Heat had reached their highest rated game in their franchise history with a 9.8 household rating. The defending champs finished last month with their highest-rated February average ever on the Sun Sports channel.

The Heat's Sun Sports broadcast can't even be beat by ESPN. The last four Heat games shared by both channels since January 4th have resulted in Sun Sports trouncing the competition with a 6.1 household rating compared to just 3.2 for the sports juggernaut.
