Typically, the preseason doesn't mean much in the NBA. Full-time starters don't really play too much, and guys that are looking for a roster spot - and possibly their last playing time for quite a while - are getting the majority of the attention.
Well, the NBA has stirred up a little drama to keep things interesting.
The Miami Heat released the full preseason schedule earlier Tuesday, including three home games at the AmericanAirlines Arena. But the NBA world will be tuned to one of their "Global Games Rio 2014" which features an October 11 matchup between the Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here's the full list of games:
Oct. 4 | New Orleans vs. Miami | KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, KY | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 7 | Orlando at Miami | AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, FL | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 11 | Cleveland vs. Miami | HSBC Arena, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | 6:00 PM |
Oct. 14 | Atlanta at Miami | AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, FL | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 17 | Golden State vs. Miami | Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 18 | Miami at San Antonio | AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 21 | Houston at Miami | AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, FL | 7:30 PM |
Oct. 24 | Miami at Memphis | FedEx Forum, Memphis, TN | 7:00 PM |
That game against the Spurs set for October 17 should also be exciting, providing a comparison for how this team has responded to the loss of LeBron James against the (ugh) defending world champs.
Of course, the full regular season schedule is yet to be released but reports are already stating that a Christmas Day game between the Cavs and Heat is likely.
Tickets to all three preseason games at @AAarena are on sale now! http://t.co/KPGllv9AHa
