Greg Oden, a free agent who played last season with the Miami Heat, was arrested for battery charges early Thursday morning, according to a report from Fox59, a local news station in Indianapolis, Indiana.

As per the station's report:

According to the Lawrence Police Department, officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 7200 block of Maple Bluff Place around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

The address is reported to be the home of Oden's mother.

The victim, who was found by police "lying down, with blood on her face," is reportedly an ex-girlfriend of Oden's. They may have recently split after a two-year relationship, according to the news story.

Here's a mugshot of Oden (via Twitter):

"Things got out of control and I started to go after the victim. My relative and witness tried to hold me back, but as I swung my arms to move them out of the way, then punched the victim in the face. I was wrong and I know what has to happen." -- Greg Oden

HotHotHoops will continue following the story as details become clearer. Stay tuned for further updates.
