In a bit of unsurprising news, the Miami Heat's official Twitter account confirmed that the team had signed guard Andre Dawkins and forward Shawn Jones, both of whom played in the NBA summer league this year.
Dawkins, a former Duke guard, played for the Heat during this year's NBA Summer League in Orlando. During one game then, he made seven 3-pointers in a 27-point outing. He figures to slot in behind Dwyane Wade and Shannon Brown in the Heat's shooting guard rotation, offering depth and youth. Jones is a former Hialeah High School star who played at Middle Tennesse State for college before appearing with the Los Angeles Clippers for the Vegas Summer League this year.
As of now, the Heat will formally invite 19 players to its training camp. The league's limit stands at 20, and teams have to cut the roster to 15 before the first regular-season game.
