It was about the last thing you wanted to happen at this point in the season. The brightest glimmer of hope, Hassan Whiteside went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter last night against the Oklahoma City Thunder and didn't return.
Whiteside was diagnosed with a Grade-1 ankle sprain. The Heat lost the game without Whiteside, who scored 10 points in the first quarter. The Heat left Miami last night to travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets, and Hassan did not go with them.
Likewise, Luol Deng also stayed back. Deng was battling an illness and decided to play against the Thunder. He met with doctors before the game, so it was pretty clear that even though he did play, he was on the edge about it. He played 29 minutes and scored 8 points, but seemed a bit down.
Both Luol Deng and Hassan Whiteside will not play vs the Charlotte Hornets as the Heat look to bounce back from the loss.
