Just after confirming the trade of Mario Chalmers and James Ennis to the Memphis Grizzlies, the Miami Heat also released a brief statement announcing a two-game suspension for reserve guard Gerald Green.
Green has missed four games dating back to last week, when he was reportedly passed out at his residence, was combative, and was finally taken away in an ambulance. He had not played the night before against the Atlanta Hawks at the AmericanAirlines Arena for what the team called an illness.
"I want to apologize to my family, fans and the Heat organization," said Green. "I accept the suspension and look forward to rejoining my teammates this weekend."
Now-former teammate Chalmers was with Green when he was taken to the hospital last week. The Heat confirmed the following morning that Green would not be with the team on their road trip and that he was hospitalized.
He will begin his suspension immediately and will re-join the team on Friday.
