Miami Heat reserve guard Gerald Green was absent from Tuesday's game at home against the Atlanta Hawks because he was sick, according to the team.
Green's condition has apparently taken a turn for the worse with the Heat releasing this statement on Wednesday afternoon prior to leaving town for their upcoming road trip.
"This morning we were informed that Gerald Green was admitted into the hospital. Right now our concerns are with Gerald and we have no further comment at this time."
There is no other official word on what exactly caused him to be hospitalized but we will update as soon as we hear anything.
UPDATE:
TMZ Sports is now reporting that Miami Fire and Rescue was called to the condo where Green was staying early Wednesday morning.
From Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel:
According to a person familiar with Green's hospitalization, Heat teammate Mario Chalmers, who lives nearby to Green, was with Green when EMTs transported Green.
To address rumors circulating, the Miami Police Department said Heat guard Gerald Green, who has been hospitalized, has not been arrested.
