The Miami Heat are in serious need of a victory, having dropped a season-worst three consecutive games after briefly reaching the top of the Eastern Conference after a pair of feel-good wins against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
A road win would also come at an opportune time for the Memphis Grizzlies, who have surprisingly struggled throughout the season and have battled inconsistency. The trade for Mario Chalmers helped give a boost to their backcourt depth but has done little overall to meet expectations. Chalmers has been averaging 11.2 points on 40% shooting in 18.8 minutes off the bench in his last five games.
The Charlotte Hornets followed up an impressive win against the Heat with a 123-99 blowout against the Grizzlies. Memphis has lost three of their last five games by an average margin of 27 points and are 6.5 games behind the San Antonio Spurs in the underwhelming Southwest Division. However, they have won three straight road games.
