Merry Christmas Jarnell Stokes! You get to go from sunny south Florida to Idaho.
The Heat assigned Stokes back to the Sioux Falls Skyforce with plenty of road games looming, less practice and practically no playing time offered. It will be a chance for him to get better.
Here's the official release from the Miami Heat.
MIAMI, December 25 - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-assigned forward/center Jarnell Stokes to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Stokes has appeared in seven games (all starts) in two different stints with the Skyforce this season, helping them to a 6-1 record, averaging 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.29 steals, 1.14 blocks and 29.0 minutes while shooting 65.9 percent from the field. He has posted two double-doubles and scored at least 20 points in four contests. Additionally, he grabbed double-figure rebounds on three occasions and blocked multiple shots three times.
He has appeared in two NBA games this season with the Memphis Grizzlies totaling two rebounds in four minutes of action. He was acquired by the HEAT, along with Beno Udrih, from Memphis in exchange for Mario Chalmers and James Ennis earlier this season on November 10.
