HHH GameTime Preview: Heat back at it on the road against the Grizzlies

New, comments

After yesterday's disappointing loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the Miami Heat must put it behind them and face the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Heat wrap up an intense stretch of four games in five nights with a road game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night. The team enjoyed one of their strongest performances of the season to come from behind and beat the Orlando Magic on the road after a convincing overtime win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Christmas, but they followed it up on Monday with a weak showing in the second half that saw them lose a 16-point lead in the third quarter to the lowly Brooklyn Nets.

Which Heat team will we see tonight against the Grizzlies? Is it the one that impressed early in the season during their generous stretch of home games (mostly against teams that were in the draft lottery last season) or will it be the inconsistent team that struggles at the worst times to be cohesive on both ends of the court?

To make matters worse, Wade apparently sustained a bruised left hip on a hard fall last night and may not play in Memphis.

"I'm not worried," he told the Palm Beach Post after the game. "There's nothing I can do. Right now just do all the treatment I need to do and wait and see."

With it being the second game of a back-to-back set and Wade playing 30 minutes against the Nets, perhaps the wise thing would be to rest him for tonight's game. Tyler Johnson returned to action after recovering from a shoulder injury and could pick up the slack, though it remains to be seen how his body responded to playing last night. Wade has missed just one game this season on November 12 to be with his son who was hospitalized at the time.

Justise Winslow missed Monday's game with a sprained left ankle but it remains a possibility that he plays in Memphis. Josh McRoberts continues to miss time because of a bruised right knee.

Memphis has not played since their 112-96 win against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday. The two teams met in Miami on December 13, with the Heat grabbing the 100-97 win. Today's game marks the first in a stretch of 16 Heat road games in their next 21 games.
