The Miami Heat could have been in trouble if Hassan Whiteside would have been suspended for his role in a fight with Alex Len. Luckily, for us, Whiteside was simply fined.
The NBA decided to fine Whiteside $15,000 and Alex Len $20,000 for their roles in the altercation.
Here's the statement from the NBA:
NEW YORK - Phoenix Suns center Alex Len has been fined $20,000 for initiating an altercation with Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside and attempting to take him to the floor. Whiteside has been fined $15,000 for escalating the incident by wrestling Len to the floor. Additionally, Suns forward Markieff Morris has been fined $15,000 for his Flagrant 2 for making excessive contact above the shoulders with Heat guard Goran Dragic. The penalties were announced Tuesday by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.
Here's what Hassan Whiteside said after the game:
"It was about the fourth or fifth time I dunked on him and I feel like he was really frustrated. I shouldn't have come back and retaliated the way I did because it really hurt my team."
And here's the video from the incident:
So what do you think? Are you proud of Hassan for standing up to Len?
