According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Ray Allen will sit out this NBA season and re-evaluate his options for 2015-16.

Allen, 39, has been linked to a number of teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards who all had hopes of signing him for the stretch run.

In a statement released through his agent Jim Tanner, Allen said:

"Over the past several months, I have taken a lot of time to deliberate what is best for me," Allen said. "I’ve ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season. I’m going to take the remainder of this season, as well as the upcoming off-season, to reassess my situation, spend time with my family and determine if I will play in the 2015-16 season."

A two-time NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics and the Heat, Allen holds the league's all-time record for most three-pointers made, averaging 18.9 points per game through 18 seasons.
